High Hopes: A New Studio Album

SONGS

Bruce Springateen porta quasi bé 50 anys dedicat a la música. Ho fa juntament amb la E Street Band, la banda de músics ( en la qual també hi ha la seva dona Patti Scialfa) que l'acompanya des dels seus inicis.

Durant aquests anys ha escrit molts àlbums d'èxit: The River, Born in the USA, Born to run, The Rising, Working on a dream..... i molts més.

THE RISING (àlbum "the rising" 2002)

Can´t see nothin´ in front of me
Can´t see nothin´ coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can´t feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I´ve gone
How far I´ve gone, how high I´ve climbed
On my back´s a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder a half mile of line

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Left the house this morning
Bells ringing filled the air
Wearin´ the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rollin´ down here

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

There´s spirits above and behind me
Faces gone black, eyes burnin´ bright
May their precious blood bind me
Lord, as I stand before your fiery light

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There´s holy pictures of our children
Dancin´ in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancin´ on the end of my line

Sky of blackness and sorrow (a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life)
Sky of glory and sadness (a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear (a dream of life)
Sky of memory and shadow (a dream of life)
Your burnin´ wind fills my arms tonight
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

THE RIVER (àlbun "the river" 1980)

I come from down in the valley where mister when you're young
They bring you up to do like your daddy done
Me and Mary we met in high school when she was just seventeen
We'd ride out of that valley down to where the fields were green
We'd go down to the river
And into the river we'd dive
Oh down to the river we'd ride
Then I got Mary pregnant and man that was all she wrote
And for my nineteen birthday I got a union card and a wedding coat
We went down to the courthouse and the judge put it all to rest
No wedding day smiles no walk down the aisle
No flowers no wedding dress
That night we went down to the river
And into the river we'd dive
On down to the river we did ride

I got a job working construction for the Johnstown Company
But lately there ain't been much work on account of the economy
Now all them things that seemed so important
Well mister they vanished right into the air
Now I just act like I don't remember, Mary acts like she don't care
But I remember us riding in my brother's car
Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir
At night on them banks I'd lie awake
And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take
Now those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true
Or is it something worse that sends me
Down to the river though I know the river is dry
Down to the river, my baby and I
Oh down to the river we ride

HUNGRY HEART ( àlbum "the river" 1980)

Got a wife and kids in Baltimore, Jack
I went out for a ride and I never went back
Like a river that don´t know where it´s flowing
I took a wrong turn and I just kept going

Everybody's got a hungry heart
Everybody's got a hungry heart
Lay down your money and you play your part
Everybody's got a hungry heart

I met her in a Kingstown bar
We fell in love I knew it had to end
We took what we had and we ripped it apart
Now here I am down in Kingstown again

Everybody's got a hungry heart
Everybody's got a hungry heart
Lay down your money and you play your part
Everybody's got a hungry heart

Everybody needs a place to rest
Everybody wants to have a home
don´t make no difference what nobody says
ain´t nobody like to be alone

Everybody's got a hungry heart
Everybody's got a hungry heart
Lay down your money and you play your part
Everybody's got a hungry heart

BORN TO RUN (àlbum "born to run" 1975)

In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway american dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
Its a death trap, its a suicide rap
We gotta get out while were young
`cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims
And strap your hands across my engines
Together we could break this trap
Well run till we drop, baby well never go back
Will you walk with me out on the wire
`cause baby Im just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta find out how it feels
I want to know if love is wild, girl I want to know if love is real

Beyond the palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you wendy on the streets tonight
In an everlasting kiss

The highways jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybodys out on the run tonight but theres no place left to hide
Together wendy well live with the sadness
Ill love you with all the madness in my soul
Someday girl I dont know when were gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go and well walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us baby we were born to run

TALK TO ME (àlbum "the promise" 2010)

Well, every night I see a light up in your window. And every night you won't answer when I come knockin' at your door. But although you won't ever let me in, I see from the street your silhouette sittin' close to him.

What must I do?, what does it take to get you to?.

Talk to me, until the night is over.
Girl, talk to me, well, until the night is over, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I got a full week's pay and, baby, I've been working hard each day. I'm not asking for the world you see. I'm just asking, girl, talk to me.

Well, late at night I hear the music soft you're playing. And late at night I see the two of you swayin'. I don't understand, darling, what was my sin. Why am I down here below and your arms are open to him?.

What did I do?, what did I say?, what must I pay to get you to?.

Talk to me, well, until the night is over.
Girl, won't you talk to me, just until the night is over, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I got a full week's pay, and, baby, I've been working hard each day. I'm not asking for the world you see. I'm just asking, darlin', talk to me.

I don't understand, darling, what was my sin?. Why am I down here below and your arms are open to him?.

What did I do?, what did I say?, what must I pay to get you to?.

Talk to me just until the night is over.
Little girl, talk to me, well, until the night is over, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I got a full week's pay and, baby, I've been working hard each day. I'm not asking for the world you see, I'm down. Well, I'm just asking, darlin', please, I'm down on my knees...

Won't you talk to me, well, until the night is over. Little girl, won't you talk to me, until is all over. Come on, darling, talk to me, well, until is all over, yeah, yeah, yeah. Little girl, won't talk to me, until is all over, yeah, yeah, yeah.
