THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING

Today may seem a normal day but it is not for me. Today, May the 18th marks the anniversary of a very important moment in my life, a turning point. 3 years ago today Bruce and the E Street Band played in Barcelona. That was my 4th Bruce show considering that I had attended one of the Segger Sessions Tour back in 2006, one in the Magic Tour and the one they made the night before (17th May). Since that moment I had always considered myself a Springsteen fan but I would have never imagined how that show would change my life, for the better I mean. 

Obviously, the 18th of May I woke up really excited. The show I had seen last night was absolutely amazing and I could not wait to see the band together onstage again. I had to wake up really early because my family and I had a family lunch celebration. I couldn’t wait to get out of the restaurant and arrive to the stadium. We had to change our “formal” clothes in the parking lots and put some clothes that would fit more the occasion. I was nervous. A lot of people had already arrived to the Estadi Olimpic and the stadium was filling fast. At that time I did not know what were the PIT bracelets /wristbands so I did not understand why some people were separated from the others. That may seem quite stupid but I was 14 years old and I was not in a social media site or anything similar so I was not aware of the queues.

Anyway we were in the front row after the PIT fence and that was pretty amazing. We were talking with the guys around us about how great the night before show had been when suddenly the lights kind of went down and a melody started to sound. The E Street Band members started to appear, everybody was shouting and like a blessing a man called Bruce Springsteen reached the stage. He grabbed the microphone and shouted: “Hi Barcelona, hi Catalunya. Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready? ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR ….” And an amazing, hilarious and electric version of Night started to sound. I was absolutely shocked!!

The concert continued with a magic set list full of gems, laughs and words spoken by Bruce in Catalan. What happened then it is difficult for me to explain because I can’t find the appropriate words. Bruce ended The Promised Land and then a sweet but raw, beautiful but sad and familiar but strange piano melody started to sound. Since the first note I was completely taken aback. I did not know what that melody was but I really felt it. I listened to the whole song without being able to quit my eyes from the stage. Everything around me was dark, however there was a magic blue light coming from Bruce’s voice and Roy’s piano. The sky was even darker than usual and the stars had a particular light that night. When I told what happened to me to a friend of mine he told me that maybe it was “that night, that night, the right night”.

I left the stadium speechless. The only thing I was able to do was smile. I knew something big had happened to me but I still didn’t know what. The following days passed good as always but one big thing changed. Then I had only one priority, find which was the song that made me feel that good in the show. I listened to the whole Springsteen discography and I finally found it. I stopped calling it the song after The Promised Land and I started calling it by its own name: Racing In The Street.

The most amazing thing about that song was not finding it. It was the good things that it made me discover. As I have told you before that night I thought I was a Bruce fan but I did not know most of the songs and lyrics. Thanks to Racing I started to listen to Bruce every day, I started to buy and read books about him. To sum up, I started to feel and love him. Till that moment my life did not have much sense, I was like a normal person but being able to enter in that Bruce world opened to me a whole new world in front of my eyes. It made me feel something special it made me feel that I was part of a big thing. I was an E Street Nation part.

Bruce has brought me the happiest days of my life and also has taught me a lot of things. He is not only a singer; he is a philosophy of life. And the more I discover about him the more I love him. Now I am completely a proud Bruce freak and I could not be happier about it.

As I have told you, Bruce is not only a singer and Racing is not only a song. Maybe if Bruce hadn’t played Racing In The Street that 18th of May of 2012 in Barcelona I would not have discovered the whole Bruce underworld (music, songs, feelings, wisdom and fabulous friends). Thanks to Bruce I now know a lot of marvelous people that share the same passion as me. So for me I owe everything I am today to one song, a song that drove me to the place I belonged my whole life but that I wasn’t able to find by myself. Thank you so much E Street Band, thank you so much Bruce and thank you so much Racing. Forever grateful.

It has been too much since we last saw bruce on tour! Almost 2 years for me! That's why I want to cheer you to post on twitter/Facebook/Instagram some of your past tour memories so as to keep the bruce fire burning! There are always sparks flying on E Street but sometimes we need to work together to make that spark become a flame! Bruce deserved a long vacation after those 3 years of energetic shows but we need each other so much! We love bruce and we can't wait to see him again soon so let's make a huge noise out there sharing our best memories with the tag #ComeBackBoss to keep the fire burning! :D

This afternoon I have been listening to a fantastic Bruce Springsteen
show. I know that many of you consider that the best shows were back
at 1978, and I agree, but there are some actual shows which are really
good, and today I want to talk you about a specific one. Bruce
Springsteen and The E Street Band live in Barcelona.
I keep that show as one of the bests for many reasons. First of all,
it was in Barcelona, very close to my hometown and that makes it seem
kind of more familiar to me. Another reason is that the Rising album
was the first Bruce and ESB album together since the Tunnel Of love
one of 1987. Seeing the whole band playing together onstage after so
many years and doing it as a result of the launching of a new
(brilliant) album always put a smile on my face. The band broke up was
very hard to assimilate to the fans and I think that the Rising album
and the following tour consolidated the definitive reunion of the
band. You may say that the consolidation was seen in the Reunion tour
in 1999 but I think that the rehearsal of a new album is what
closed/repaired that broke circle in 1990.
The Barcelona show was special for many reasons and although it was
similar to the other shows of the tour, I think that it sums up the
essence, the spirit of those nights.
The start with the Rising was what put the audience in alert that
something big was about to happen. The Sant Jordi pavilion almost
knocked down when the first notes of Prove It All Night started to
sound. After a super energetic version of Darkness on The Edge of
Town, beautiful versions of Empty Sky and You are missing liven up the
night. But then, after the silence of those songs, a very positive and
noisy version of Waiting on a Sunny Day made the spectators sing and
dance of happiness. When Badlands was played the audience went crazy
and we can see the whole floor jumping to the unison. It is really
amazing. The calm was brought back with the performance of Spirit In
the night (with the funny moment when Bruce forgot how to play the
piano part of the song) and the tender version, the special request of
Incident on 57th Street.
At that point, the band left the stage for a short pause and they came
back with an enormously powerful version of Night, a crazy performance
of Ramrod and a magic act of Born to Run where some people in the
audience even made a human tower. A heart- breaking version of My City
of Ruins followed the set list and then a very emotional performance
of Born In The USA that leaded us to an epic end. A full of hope Land
Of Hope and Dreams and a lovely, magical, perfect, indefatigable and
outrageous version of the forever Springsteen anthem THUNDER ROAD.
In my opinion it was a legendary show. I cannot add many more. These
are just words but to see/feel what really happened that night all you
have to do is see or relive that show again because as Bruce said in a
recent album: “you just know it when you feel it”. So that is all
friends. This is all I wanted to say today!!!
Oh, almost forgot it. Till we meet again, take care of yourselves and
remember that we were born to run!!!!!

Dear tramps,

Today I want to talk you about a Bruce song, a very special one! I know everyone has their favourite song, but now I want to talk about mine. This is how I felt in love with that song and why it is that important for me.

It was my proof that music is what can save us, that music is what move us and what define what we are! Jon Landau said it a few years beofore me but on a night when I needed to feel young, he made me feel like I was hearing music for the very first time! 

In my life there was a moment where I knew that I needed to do something with myself, I didn’t know what, but I was sure that I needed that thing. Then I went to a Springsteen concert and I was completely taken aback, I was in trance with a song! The one before Trapped and the one after Badlands! 

In that moment I didn’t know what song it was but that song really touched me: Bruce’s voice, the guitar, the piano… It was a moment very surprising for me cause I had never felt that way before, it was like if I had finally arrived to that place which I wouldn't  never wanted to leave! I arrived home and I discovered that the name of the song. I just listened to it another time and I started to cry!

That song saved me and I will never forget that show where I fell in love with the song which I barely knew the name! I will never have enough words to thank Bruce for that! Now this song is probably my favourite and it will be at my side forever! It’s called Racing In The Street and now I just hope to hear it live and to sing it along with all the crowd! Cause summer is here and the time is right for racing in the street…

20 Feet From Stardom

Dear Tramps!!
I am finally back here on the net!!! Hope all of you are enjoying their vacation!!

What I want to talk about today is the film "20 Feet From Stardom". Some of you may have heard about it thanks to the deserved award it received some months ago in the 86th Grammy ceremony awards.
I have to say that I enjoyed a lot that film. It is a fantastic movie to enjoy music and to honore the real soul of some of the most important bands, the background singers. These women have live, power, strenght & soul in their voices!! Watching that film is a great oportunity to learn more about these amazing women with their amazing story behind.
The film looks back at the women story but it also shows interviews with great artists that needed those women. You can see Sting, Jagger and lf course our beloved Bruce and the beautiful Cindy Mizelle.

I strongly recommend that film to everybody who loves music, to everybody that want to discover new things about who was behind the top songs.
Each lady has struggled a lot to get a place in the music industry. They have worked really hard to reach the front row or to stay at 20 feet from stardom.
